Named after the Egyptian Goddess, Hathor, these Blue Mojave Turquoise hoops are symbolic of joy, celebration, love, womanhood, and the creatrix of light.
Hathor was worshipped by royalty, as well as common people, and temples all over Egypt were dedicated in her honor. Her crown was made of a large red sun disc resting in between two cow horns. She was the mother (or wife) of the sun God, Horus and mother to the sun King, Ra, and it is said that she was also known as the Golden Goddess who helped women to give birth, the dead to be reborn, and the cosmos to be renewed. It is widely recognized that Hathor adorned herself in turquoise and is often referred to as the "Goddess of Turquoise".
This particular turquoise stone has copper matrix running through it, which to me, symbolizes the legacy of Hathor as well as the illumination of love and joy throughout the universe. We are all Hathor in the sense that we embody joy, love, and the celebration of life.
